Importance of backup systems for small and medium size businesses (SMBs) is in no way less, as compared to big companies. SMBs also depend heavily on the computers for the data management. There are several examples of SMBs that lost all their valuable data because of computer failure and never returned to the scene again.

Every business generates critical data while conducting day to day activities.

Best policies to follow:

must be taken at regular intervals
must be verified after the backup completes
Laptops also must be backed up at regular intervals
must be restored at regular intervals to check its integrity
must be encrypted so that no unauthorized person can get access to the data
There should be daily, weekly and monthly copies of the backup
must have at least one off-site copy of the backup
must be taken on an external Hard Disk or a Tape Drive media and not on one of the computers in the office

Phishing is an attempt to steal your personal information. It uses email to steal your personal data like bank account password, credit card information etc.

Phishing emails generally looks like they are sent by well-known organizations and it will ask for your personal information. These emails will always tell you to click a link that takes you to a website where your personal information is requested.

When you enter your login details or credit card information on this website it will immediately reach to the internet criminal or hacker who has sent you the email. Now these criminals or hackers can use your personal details to steal money from your bank account or can use your identity to open new accounts in your name.

How to protect yourself from phishing?

You can do the following to protect yourself from phishing:

Type website addresses into your browser or use your personal bookmarks. Never click on a link provided in the email
Check the website URL and security certificate before entering your personal or financial information
Don't enter personal or financial information into pop-up windows
Keep your computers anti-virus software current with the latest security updates
Legitimate organizations will never request this information via email
Avoid accessing bank accounts or online shopping from cyber cafes or shared PCs
Change your password at regular intervals
Scan your computer regularly to ensure that it is Virus/Trojan/Malware free

11 Ways to Increase Laptop Battery Life

I would like to share with you few tips which will help in improving your laptops battery life time. Normally laptops battery should last for 2 to 3 hours before you need to recharge it. Usualy this duration decreases as the battery gets older. There are few simple ways which can help in improving the battery life time and stand by time.

Lower Screen Resolution: Graphics cards of new generation uses power just like hard disk. You can lower the screen resolution from display cards settings screen
Shut Off the WIFI: When not using the wireless connection it should be turned off.
Power Options: Set your power option to Balanced. This will balance between the performance and power consumption.
First Discharge and then Charge: Condition your battery by letting it run down, and then charge it up all the way. Partially charging your battery lowers battery life.
Close Programs: Close down unnecessary programs. You can do this by clicking on the programs in the task bar, by right clicking on the program, and selecting "Close".
Standby When not in use: Set your computer to stand by when it has been idle for a specific amount of time. To set the computer to stand by, go to the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel." Select "Power Options" and click on the "Power Schemes" tab. Select the amount of time you want your computer to wait before going on standby.
Screen Brightness: Lower you screen brightness to save power.
Stop/Disable unnecessary Services.
Charge and discharge the battery one time for two month at least. Discharge the battery to 3% first then charge full.
Remove the battery from Laptop if you are not going to use it for long time.
Do not use your laptop if battery capacity is 3% or lower. This can damage the battery life.
